This post was going to be the start of a short series, looking specifically at one or two of my current favourites and sharing some content but this has become more about me – for which I apologise !

I have read more books in the last 2 years than in the previous 22 – it must be a sign of old age. Clearly, as an artist, the vast majority of my books are art related and most are “how to” books as I am fascinated by techniques and ways of working. Being semi retired is great and I thoroughly recommend it. As a former educator I used to buy art books to fuel my lessons and invariably I would lug a pile of books into most of my sessions. Sadly, when I was teaching full time I rarely got any time to read. Now my time is largely my own and when I’m not painting, I am reading. I have found that I am enjoying more biographies of artists and discovering that the context really is the key !

Today has been a fairly unproductive day, battling with revising my WordPress website and tying myself in knots ! So at 16.00 hours I made tea and shared a doughnut with my other half and my moral was restored ! In my next post I will reveal a few books that have enjoyed recently. Cheerio 4 now !
