ArtSpace Open Studios
Phew : the annual ArtSpace Open Studios event is now done and dusted for another year ! As usual we threw open the doors of all 29 studios to the public and overall, it was a brilliant success, with well over 300 visitors.
All the hard work paid off ! We had a constant stream of visitors in studio 3, and after spending the best part of a week, clearing space, putting all the paints and brushes out of harms way and reorganising and hanging work was very worthwhile – it’s always a good discipline ! I find it helps me to focus on my practice and establish new directions.
In the upstairs GALLERY we had a mixed media, members exhibition, for offsite members and studio holders alike, (I had three little oils and a watercolour on display). The exhibition was beautifully curated by ArtSpace member Kate Street and her team. It was a sad time for Kate as it was her last open studios – she has now packed up her ArtSpace studio and is creating a studio space at home to work from. We will miss her but I’m sure she will be back to visit us very soon.
Outside the studios is our “artists garden” and greenhouse and as usual this proved to be a very popular attraction ! Many thanks again to everyone who put in their valuable time and effort tidying the space up and making it so welcoming.
