Ameliorate : To make better or more tolerable.
Saturday was spent getting up at the crack of dawn and driving 160 miles, on what was probably one of the hottest days of the summer. Upon reaching my destination I realised that neglecting a lawn is not wise ! Sadly, I was guilty of the afore mentioned crime but had come prepared for the worst and I found it – the back garden had, once more, become a meadow, complete with clover, wild geraniums, dandelions and knee high grass – an ideal habbitat for the many and various species of insects that I encountered !
In conclusion I spent an entire weekend strimmering, mowing and reclaiming the garden and my diligence was rewarded or ameliorated by a photoshoot.
Sadly, the only drawing that I got up to, this weekend, involved a large lawn-mower and some rather boring straight lines but there was one flight of fancy which I’ll share later.
PS There’s still plenty of verdant jungle left for my lodgers !
