My work is constantly evolving. One constant that is central to my practice is drawing. As a child I was encouraged to make things and record my thoughts, feelings and surroundings. In later life my drawings have become much larger, more spontaneous and more energetic.
Subject matter includes the sea, life, location, history & documentation. My paintings represent the essence of the subject, are often meticulously researched and crafted, yet raw and expressive. They are a combination of contextual research and visual and emotional memory.
Despite the fact that I now live on the south coast, my roots are firmly in Suffolk and have fashioned how I think & feel. Recent work has become psychogeographical and more dependent on my fleeting trips to my tiny Suffolk studio.
