Thursday 12th December was my last day of teaching the animators and computer games students at the University for this academic year. I have got some marking plus the possibility of some further odd days but that suits me fine as I can now concentrate on my other teaching, painting and writing (not to mention decorating my house). This semester has been a non-stop merry-go-round of charging about carrying portfolio’s and boxes of teaching materials so I’ll be pleased to chill out over Christmas and recharge my creative batteries.
The EXPERIMENTAL LIFE DRAWING WORKSHOP, that I run from the studios at the OMEGA CENTRE in Portsmouth UK has had a very successful first term in its new venue and I am looking forward to 7.1.14, which is when we will come out of hibernation and kick off term two ! If you are passionate about drawing and want to brush up your skills or are looking for a new direction – there are just a couple of places left – so hurry and contact natalie@artspace.co.uk to make a reservation.The 10 week course runs on Tuesday evenings from 19.00 – 21.00 hours and the price for 10 sessions remains at £115 or £95 if you are a concession.
The classes are structured but allow each individual to respond to the weekly theme in their own way but obviously the focus is on experimentation and developing and reinforcing existing skills. The class used to be known as Advanced Life Drawing but as I am happy to teach students of mixed ability – a change of name was necessary. I have one student who has booked up for 2014 who has been attending my classes for the past 15 years or more – so I must be doing something right !
My Life Drawing classes at King Edward VI School in Southampton will continue and I am also running another class for the sixth form fine art students at Bay House School in Gosport, UK.
I have a few commissions to finish off so hopefully I’ll be able to get into my studio at Art Space Portsmouth a little more often.
So in conclusion Its business as usual . . . .
Have a Happy Christmas One and All !

Merry Christmas from across the water or pond as I think you say
Cheers Carla, Happy Holidays ! All the very best ! Chris : ) }
You mention life drawing classes at KES, are these open to the public? I am looking for life drawing in Southampton. Am also an ex-pupil at KES [1951-1959! ]
Hi Rod many thanks for your interest ! Sadly my life drawing sessions at KES are not open to the public – they are for the lower and upper sixth to improve their drawing skills. What’s more the sessions are only from Sept-Dec. Currently, I am only doing classes at THE OMEGA CENTRE in PORTSMOUTH. If you would like me to add you to the chriswoodartist publicity machine, email me. In addition, to the weekly classes, I intend doing some one day 2D/3D life workshops later on in the year. Best Wishes ! chriswoodartist@aol.com
