My ArtSpace studio usually gets an annual spring clean, just before Open Studios – (this year 20th/21st June 11-4pm daily).
As a multidisciplinary artist who has rented the space for 15 years, I have acquired a lot of stuff! Each year, owing to new studio furniture, my working space gets smaller and smaller. Just before the last open studios on June 25, I was given two huge browsers that stand almost as high as me, and the width is about the same as the studio. Each browser has 25 double-sided A1+ pockets, so that is about 100 drawings on display! To make matters worse, in August 2025, I had to accommodate 13 easels plus a whole mountain of other bits and bobs from my life drawing class. So the room is virtually full. Last week, I decided enough was enough, and for the last three afternoons, I have been shifting stuff around and tidying up. The plan was to move a few bits of furniture and take home a few pieces too. At this point, I should add that every year, before open studios, I take home about 3-4 car loads of stuff, only to take it back to the studio once the dust has settled. More words and more images later !
