Unlike my other studio spaces, my main ArtSpace studio usually gets an annual spring clean, just before Open Studios – (this year 20th/21st June 2026).

As a multidisciplinary artist, who has rented the space for 15 years, I have acquired a lot of stuff! Each year, owing to an influx of new studio furniture etc, my working space seems to get smaller and smaller. Just before the previous open studios (2025), I was given two huge browsers that are wonderful but they stand almost as high as me, and are the width of the studio. Each browser has 25 double-sided A1+ pockets, so in total, they accommodate about 100 drawings ! Following the expiry of my lease on my teaching studio in August 2025, I had to pack up and accommodate 13 easels plus a whole mountain of other paraphernalia from my life drawing class. So ArtSpace studio 3 is virtually full. Last week, I decided enough was enough, and for the last three afternoons, I have been shifting stuff around and tidying up. The plan was to move a few bits of furniture and take a few pieces home. At this point, I should add that every year, before open studios, I take home about 3-4 car loads of stuff, only to take it back to the studio once the dust has settled.

Update 08.09.26 : Open Studios was a fabulous success and a very tidy studio was enjoyed by 250 happy souls !

In between the annual open studio events, I don’t have many visitors to my ArtSpace studio but on Thursday 10.09.26 I will be showing a potential client a body of work – so this has necessitated a further rejig. The space had remained pretty tidy – that is until I acquired a rotating greetings card stand plus a number of large stretcher bars. So in conclusion, it’s one step forward and two steps backward or vice versa !

I will add further images to illustrate my point. . .
